Pizza Day
Nowadays, pizza is considered the best-known fast food of all and can be enjoyed in numerous variations. It doesn't matter whether it comes from the freezer or is topped yourself - it tastes as good as ever. So it goes without saying why this dish also deserves its own "holiday", doesn't it?
Precisely that, "Pizza Day", is celebrated on 9 February. And what could be more obvious than to celebrate this special occasion with a pizza?
On the history of the pizza...
There are a number of myths surrounding the origins of today's pizza. In the meantime, however, it is considered as good as proof that the dish first appeared in its known form in the 18th century. Compared to the "current models", however, the pizzas of that time were rather sparsely topped. Because: in the beginning, mainly olive oil, tomato slices, and basil were used.
Something "freaky" like a Hawaiian pizza, which incidentally still sends shivers down the spine of many people today, was still out of the question.
In the 19th century, however, the triumphant advance of the slice began. The number of toppings multiplied insofar as the choice in the restaurant became increasingly difficult. The well-known "first-world problems" of pizza lovers began - and continue to this day.
How can the day of the pizza be celebrated extensively?
What a question! With the right culinary delights, of course! Fortunately, pizza is one of those dishes that can optionally be enjoyed in the morning (preferably cold after the party).
Those who decide to top their own pieces can let their imagination run wild. Also popular, but definitely a matter of taste: sweet pizza! Since classic yeast dough is characterized by a rather unobtrusive taste, it can also be combined with chocolate without any problems.
However, experience shows that most pizza fans tend to stick to the typical variant.
But no matter what toppings are in fashion on 9 February, it has rarely been easier to feast authentically. A possible diet can always be continued the next day.
Because pizza does have one disadvantage: unfortunately, it is not only characterized by a great taste, but also by some calories. Depending on the toppings, there is also a high-fat content. So those who want to celebrate the day of the pizza with the "four-cheese variant", for example, should plan extra jogging round the next day if necessary.
